What to consider before your first HOT YOGA CLASS ever

More and more yogis discovers Hot Yoga and a lot of people seem to really love it. Besides that, the list of benefits that Hot Yoga shall bring seems almost too good to be true: increase in flexibility, burning more calories, increase in bone density, sweating out all toxins from your body, nourishing of the skin and much more.

During a Hot Yoga class, the room will be heated to a temperature between 32 and 40 degrees and the practise usually follows a more or less intense flow.

Are you curious, how Hot Yoga can benefit you? Before you go to your first Hot Yoga class, there are a couple of things you should consider!

1. Make sure you feel good

Hot Yoga is an intense workout in unusual circumstances. In order for your body to be able to handle the heat in combination with movement, you should feel fine overall. This means no cold or cough but also generally a good physical condition. If you have a heart disease, low blood pressure or if you are pregnant, then Hot Yoga might not be the right choice.

    2. Drink enough water before & during the class

During Hot Yoga you will sweat. A lot. So your body will lose a lot of liquid. This means you need to assure, that your body will stay hydrated. Best thing to do is to already drink enough water before the class. Also make sure to have your water bottle with you in the practise room.

      3. Don't fill up that belly

A full belly will be in your way during your Hot Yoga class. You shouldn't eat anything at all 2 hours before your practise and try to avoid heavy food during the day. It will make practising much easier.

        4. Bring a towel.

At Hot Yoga classes it is normal that students cover their mats with a towel to avoid getting a slippery mat from sweating. It is much easier to wash a towel then a mat. You might also want to bring a second towel to wipe away that sweat from your face during practise.

          5. Don't plan anything important afterwards

As it will be your first time practising Hot Yoga, you don't know how your body will react. Some people that do Hot Yoga for the first time feel nauseous or really exhausted afterwards. Take it slow, get a nice shower and be sure to drink enough water after class.

If you follow these tips, you are well-prepared for your first Hot Yoga class. We do hope your first Hot Yoga experience will be great and that you will feel amazing afterwards, like most of our students!
